The issue is when I run a cut of any depth the gears chatter like hell and the mill head vibrates. It is a 1.5hp, 1600rpm gear drive with 0.01mm run-out on the spindle. Trammed level to 0.005mm across 4 inches+. The vise is also squared to less than 0.01mm. If I run a cut of say 0.2mm deep (diameter is about 8cm or 3 inches) at …
Re: HAFCO HM46 (RF45 Clone) CNC conversion. Precision Mathews sells a CNC RF-45 clone with a CNC kit on it and they use 640oz steppers on the X and Y. The larger the stepper the slower the RPM for a given current and voltage. At 1000 RPM you will be using about 25% of the power that that stepper can make.
I'm about to start on the 45 degree corner plates and the lower leg braces. The 1" thick plate was not big enough so I'm out of luck there. I'll still probably have enough for directly under the mill (16"w x 28"d) and the rest can be 1/4" plate. I'm putting two of the 2"x6"x 1/4" vertical under the mill mounting holes.

Hello. I decided to share my cnc conversion project of TM 7045 FG mill. This milling machine is a clone of ZAY 7045, RF 45 and so on. The dovetails on the column was poor quality, so i decided to cut them away and install linear rails. A portion of lapping was required to make perfect flatness for linear rails. Patience and perseverance have a ...
On another note, accuracy is looking pretty good on simple test calibration: Mach 3 has a built in DRO/ Jog function with "go to capabilities. You can also add a pendant which is basically a hand held controller to do this while you look at the mill instead of the computer screen if you want. So basically, I have a 3 axis power feed mill with jog …
41. Yet Another RF45 Build. I have an Industrial Hobbies mill I inherited which has seen next to no use. So after mulling over the the addition of ball screws and doing something bout the spindle bearings (felt rather gritty when turning the spindle by hand - that can't be good) I think I'll replace the lower bearings with angular contacts, …
Re: How to identify a *real* rongfu RF45. I found a tear down of a real rong fu and compared it to the IH clone and another clone. Here are some differences I spotted so far: 5 bolts on the column (one on the front) Rack and pinion Z axis. Z axis tram does not have a hole in the center. Column has access panels on the back.
This post continues from an early post, antibacklash ballscrew upgrade on RF45 ZAY7045 Milling machine – Part 1.. After mounting the anti-backlash ballscrew and assuring that it was as square to the table travel as I could get it, I worked on installing the end plates and then the captive support bearings a single 5202 and a single 6202 sealed Nachi bearing.
